What Jesus Did

Isaiah 53 is one of the most fascinating chapters in the whole Bible. It is a prophetical passage about Jesus Christ. More than that, it is a specific discourse on the price that Jesus paid for us. It tells us what He did for us:

  • He has borne our griefs
  • He has carried our sorrows
  • He was wounded for our transgressions
  • He was bruised for our iniquities
  • The chastisement for our peace was upon Him.
  • The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Jesus went through immense pain. He was whipped and beaten. He was spit upon. He had nails driven through his wrists and ankles. He had thorns driven into his skull. He hung naked on a cross.

Beyond that, he endured spiritual pain. He had the weight of every sin placed upon Him: every child molestation, every murder, every lustful thought, every rape, every angry outburst, every robbery, every prideful or selfish act. All of that weight, all of the punishment for all sin, every sin, was placed upon Him.

1 Peter 3:18 says that He did all of that to bring us to God. We are forgiven.

Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
