The Importance of Being Teachable

Proverbs 10:17 says, “Whoever heeds correction is on the pathway to life, but someone who ignores exhortation goes astray.”

Teachability is the one of the greatest qualities we can possess. No person knows everything. Some may act like they do, some are certainly smarter than others, but no person has “arrived.”

My wife is smart. She has often made suggestions to me about ministry, parenting, and a host of other issues. Unfortunately, much of her advice has gone unheeded due to my own pride.

In fact, there have been times when a peer in ministry has given me the same advice and I took it.

If you are not teachable, you will stifle your growth. God wants to teach you; He uses others to do so.

Becoming teachable is as simple as listening and being willing to change. Heed correction and travel on the path of life.
